patreonWhat kind Raspberry are you using? A 3 of 3B? (or older?) I might be able to optimize your code, but I think the main reason is the Raspberrys speed, which is just unable to process the data and display the data. Isn't the processing quicker when you don't display the camera? (and please post a message on your Patreon page so we know there is an update!)

Thanks for the nudge to remind the patreons. I will go do that now! It's a 3b+ but I think you may be right in that it's just the limit of the device. It probably would be quicker without displaying the camera but because it's so finicky about detecting the smile the camera's pretty necessary. I'm going to try and cobble together the code I used and upload it so people can see what I did if they want to make their own. (and I will try and remember to post on patreon too 😜 I do care prom

Hey if you're still interested in making this run better, you'd be best of getting a Coral Accelerator for your Pi, and doing smile detection with machine learning, if you're still struggling with framerate try using a lower resolution
